I have seen it now

Glad to see Lennox is not a heel after all (I called it).

Sad to see DB Woodside still can't act.

Glad to see Boris the Bullet dodger.

Sad to see Rena Sofer's character be such an idiot.

Glad to see Jack has not lost his sense of humor ("point and shoot").

Sad to see Jack so willing to give up his life when there are three bombs on the loose (I think this is out of character).

Glad to see Morris and Chloe acting really human (seriously, Chloe was becoming a one-trick pony).

Sad to see ANOTHER plot to kill the president.

REALLY FRICKING GLAD to see Charles Logan.

What can I say? My feelings were mixed with this episode. However, I can say that this season has still not gripped me the way I thought it would.

Loved the fact that Logan is back-- and with that Fidel Castro type beard. Didn't see that coming at all. Loved that twist.

I also love how ruthlessJack's Dad is-- willing to kill both sons and his grandson-- unbelievable. I just can't believe that it was part of the plan to kill both his kids and grandson.

I liked the fact that Lennox was not going to go through with the plan to kill the president. Its definitely a bad sub-plot which is a shame b/c the White House has always been the second major story as Ted pointed out- but this year its been reduced to an awful assisination plot. We'll see what happens- but I have a very hard time thinking that Reed can pull this off.

Good scene between Morris and Chloe-- nice personality development to have Morris be a recovering alcoholic.

I just love that Logan is back and now Jack has to partner with the man he helped put away. Great great stuff.

I actually thought Jack's best line of the show was when he was talking to Marilyn when she asked him how they know that the hostile will cooperate with them and Jack said, "Because he wants to live." Classic.

Frankly- I thought he was going to say, "Because I will kill him."-- but this was better.

I just wish I had a sense of what Jack's dad is referring to when he keeps talking about "everything I built".

Yes, I understand that it is meant to create a curiosity in the subject, but, in all sincerity, what on Earth could be so important so as to kill one of your own sons and kidnap your grandson and threaten to kill him unless your daughter-in-law serves up your other son to be blown up?

Not much is really coming to mind on this one.

Honestly, his character is starting to push the envelope of what I can suspend by disbelief to. Yes, I know people can be ruthless, but, these type of people tend to be grown in countries where brutality is a way of life, not the plush suburbs of Los Angeles.

Jack's Dad

1) Complete Wild Card: Not his real father biologically.

2) Complete psychopath

These are the only two reasons I will accept for a Father sacrificing family for some business he created. I can't even be sure if he is a patriot, but sacrificing your family for the perceived good of the us is fine if you sense he is struggling with that choice. Even if he was a patriot would he belittle Jack's choice to serve the Country in the army and then later as a civil servant? (Best damn civil servant ever by the way)

Furthermore, did I miss something, I was distracted, who left the cell phone with Logan's number? How did Logan know Jack was coming back from China? I am guessing Jack's Dad left the phone. How did Logan not go to prison?

Morris, I would never let him back to work at CTU, after six prior days like this how is CTU's budget so poor on staffing the Computers? Last season they were pulling people out of the secretary pool to perform critical tasks and this season it is just an inept Milo, a traumatized Morris and Chloe worried about everyone she has any personal relationships too. This place is just disfunctional. On a story note, they are underusing Nadia, ( I think that is her name) she needs more of a role.

Whitehouse. Just too cute with Lennox being part of the plot then not part of the plot. He did not need to find out more before contacting secret service when they are in the bunker, this guy works for him, tell SS to detain him, move on. Just 24 trying to be coy. The Whitehouse is almost at the point when I will skip it if I am watching on TIVO.

I am glad Susan Palmer was not in this episode. Much better flow.

The good thing about using the blog over e-mails is these post are here to go back and look at. So when you predict something you should cite the comment. Just saying.

Ted-

Jack's Dad left the phone with Logan's number. BTW-- if you notice that was a real phone number-- not a 555 number-- crazy obsessed 24 fans have actually called that number and have spoken with production members. This is from the Fox website.

But it is interesting that Jack's Dad decided NOT to kill him and help him at the same time. Did he all of a sudden find some inner-good? Who knows? He definitely is a ruthless bad-ass and plays the part well.

Sandra Palmer is a weak link in the show and her acting is below par. Agree that her not being in this episode was a good thing.

As far as Logan not being in prison-- we don't know that he wasn't. Jack was in China for 20 months-- Logan could have been in prison and then released. Perhaps we will find out. But I don't think its safe to assume he was not in prison.

Oh and in the spirit of Ted's post regarding use og blug to remind everyone that your predictions were right-- My predictions were all right except when I said McCarthy's gf would have an impact-- clearly I was wrong about that-- but that was the ONLY time!!!! Woo Hoo-- I rule!!!

Well there is no guarantee Logan is going to help Jack, but I agree that it is likely he will help. I still say psychopath.

I think Jack is alive because his father has another use for him. No other explanation. The guy can do what he did and, all of a sudden, have a change of heart? Nope. He is using Jack. This is evident by the fact that he left him the cell-phone number. There is no other reason to do this. However, if this does not get explained, that is lame to the Nth degree.

I have a feeling the President Logan storyline will bring to light what, exactly, was exchanged with the Chinese to secure Jack's release.

I think logan will help but it will be because he wants to clear his name he wants to try and restor his reputation. Just a guess.

Predictions?

I am actually at a loss right now. I hope Assaad really wants to kill the President which would just be great. I now want the VP to take over.

Is Vegas a target?

Is San Fran a target?

San Diego Naval bases?

Pheonix?

Airplane, any major city?

If I was writing this story I would say OK, we have the fololwoing story arcs

1) The NUKES

2) Jack and Papa, Is logan a new arc or part of this one?

3) Whitehouse

Everything else is filler, CTU, Sandra Palmer, etc.

With the NUKES, you have the ability to get Jack to defuse all three bombs over the next 12 hours, that is doable, but is it dramatic? I say no, Jack goes after Gredenko and other teams get the actual bombs. So, in order to make it about getting to Gredenko, you have to come up with a reason that all three bombs have to go off at the same time, which seems hackneyed. So I am back to little leads finding each bomb, Jack getting Gredenko. At this point it is convuluted at best.

2) Jack and Papa

Redemption? Must be the way they are going. I personally think his actions to this point are too far towards absolute evil to allow a redemption without death but whatever.

3) WHitehouse, I do not care, really, kill him, do not kill him, just wrap it up already and fold it into the nuke story.

I know they had a plane sequence last year, but, could one of th enukes be on the plance that is gringing Katherine Harris across the country? Probably not, but, just some food for thought.

I agree with Ted on the President thing. I would be happier if the VP took over, it would make things more interesting and I know for a fact that Powers Booth is a good actor.

I also agree with Ted that they probably won't spend the rest of the season tracking down the remining nukes, Jack will be going after Boris the Bullet Dodger.

Lastly, I furthermore agree that, without self-sacrifice (i.e. death) on the part of Papa Bauer, there can be no resolution. Personally, I could really see a Star Trek II, Wrath of Khan thing where Papa Bauer sacrifices his life for everyone else...

The Logan thing is a subplot to the Papa-Jack plotline.
