Getting better...
However, I am curious as to how the Russian President is going to explain to the families of those dead guards how they died.
Also, I wish they would not have had so many suggestive shots of a cutting instrument prior to the actual stabbing. I knew it was going to happen before it happened and, I wish I didn't. Lastly, I really wish they did not kill off the character they killed off last night. I liked him a lot.
I am being vague in case Mitch looks at the site.
One more thing, not to nitpick, but, all the Russian uniformed personnel were officers? Not an enlisted one in the ranks?

I agree getting better, the White House is still awful, and they missed a golden opportunity to show us Jack being a badass at the embassy, but all in all I liked what they did here.
1) Jack taking down the guard was fun, why the guy from Red October had to look at the security camera when talking to Gredenko was silly. Still, I like that Gredenko got to watch his man get taken out. However, I would have liked Jack to have done more to remedy his situation then take a couple hostage, there was prime cool killing that could have been done.
2) Less of Milo, I think he is a pussy and I was hoping getting shot would get him out of action, more Nadia and Chloe needed.
On this note, I already like Silver Spoon more since Milo hates him, maybe that is what they were going for here.
3) Agree that once she picked up the knife and started chopping a stabbing attempt was coming, I did not see her killing Logan, but well done.
4) I am not even sure how to correct the White House at this point. Powers Booth is now just as bad in the role as D.B. Plus they are being heavy handed in the White Men manipulate facts to start wars angle. Just does not ring true.
5) Drones, still dumb.
6) Agree about the Russian Guards, first thing I told Erika, that is a lot of innocent Russians getting killed.
"codename: silverspoon" it is.
I liked the fact that they took the extra step to use a Makarov 9mm as a prop when Jack shorted out the wires. That kind of thing scores extra points with me.
I liked when silverspoon throttled Morris. Is it unlikely? Yes. Was it needed? Yes. Morris is a coward and deserves every bit of degradation allowable.
Powers Boothe is guilty of a bit of overacting here. I wish he would channel his character from Deadwood a bit more. Then I would believe he is a scheming, Machiavellian guy who can rise to the level of VP. Guys who display their emotions like he is doing do not tend to rise that high in politics.
Drones, still dumb, but, at least they will only be around for one more episode.
I still wish that, so long as they took the time to get the right sidearm, they would have taken the time to find the right uniforms for armed guards. The lowest rank I saw was juior lieutenant (you can tell a russian officer by the red stripe (or two stripes) down the middle of the epaulet).
However, EXTRA EXTRA SUPER BONUS POINTS for having Jack not only have to reload, but having him actually run out of ammmo!!!! I can not tell you how long it has been since I actually saw somone run out of bullets in a tv show.
VERY refreshing.
I enjoyed. Had the ole Jack Bauer back.
Have to agree White House getting really annoying. Can't believe I will say this but I feel for Lennox. He was trying to do the right thing and got shot down.
Didn't see ex-prez getting stabbed I thought she was going to stab herself before she talked to the Russian Prez wife, then they would have been in a bind. Wanted to see more of Logan Oh well.
I think there will be disagreements with Jack and Silverspoon. He is no Curtis.
Don't like the VP character. Too predictible. Like I saod last week why do we need a VP that goes against everything the Prez believes in.
query... could they be setting us up for Jack's retirement (or death) and subsequent replacment with silverspoon?
And, yes, Erica is right that we seem to be having this POTUS=Good VPOTUS=Bad thing going on. Why would two people with such disparate views ever team up in the first place? Have we forgotten how the American political process works?
Politically they took advantage of Wayne Palmer's connection to his dead brother, I can believe that the VEEP had to be a credible weighty prescence to win the election, so it works in a technical sense and he did seem to know his place while Wayne was in charge, so I am ok with it. However, they are clearly hinting that he is in on the assination plot, whihc makes him inherently evil in my mind. So, this is the caricture of Cheney and even as a Lib Dem I find it heavy handed.
Silverspoon hair style is odd. Plus they should have shown more of him leading that raid on the consulate, if he is to have credibility with Jack we should have seen that he knows his job more then being able to radio Bill at CTU.
The rumors on Keifer dying are just to make people question Jack's survival, I see it happening at some point, but not right now.
Ah Friends-- its good to be back-- sorry for the delay-- watched 2 episodes last night back to back- and while I won't rehash what happened 2 weeks ago-- Jack getting caught in Russian consulate-- I will say that the show is moving in a better direction.
Although---- I absolutely hated the fact that Martha stabbed Logan and then was able to place a call with the Zubarhovs. It absolutely convinces everyone that she's crazy. I was so torn on her character- crazy not crazy- and I came down on the side that she was not crazy-- but last night she proved me wrong. I agree the foreshadowing with all the cutting was a bit obvious. Although- whoever said she was going to kill herself-- Erika?-- I agree- I thought she was going to slice her wrist.
The VP is ridiculous. What is that accent? Tenn or South Carolina? He's so over the top and he clearly just wants to start a war. Its a bit ridiculous-- but the whole White House plot has been a dissapointment this season.
Silverspoon is good but here are my thoughts: 1) I like that him and Milo have some history; 2) I like that he throttled Morris; 3) I like that Milo came to Morris' defense-- I thought that whole thing was well done. Question- if you are a lead field agent I guess you don't wear gear, right? No bullet-proof vest, right? Would have liked to see him in more hand to hand stuff- but perhaps we will see. Frankly, that was kind of an easy role for a "top agent." Not only is he not Curtis-- he's not even Chase from Season 3. Chase would kick his ass 7 ways from Sunday.
Any speculation that he will take over for Jack is absolutely ridiculous. Jack has a contract for the life of the show. I think Silverspoon has 6 episodes.
Scenes between Russian consulate and Logan were good-- loved how Russian's face was twitching when talking with Logan. I hope Logan can be revivied. He's too good a chracter to get killed this way. Its just dumb if you ask me.
I really like the conflict that Tom Lennox was put in-- he's so desperately trying to do the right thing- but he's being put in an impossible situation. His "yes sir" to the VP when VP was talking with the ambassador from Asad's country was so weak that I'm surprised that the ambassador didn't pick up on that. It was barely audible-- good job.
We'll see how CTU plans to derail the drones. Seems like they can be shot down by missiles or Air-force, no? Question- if a drone is shot down and the bomb aboard the drone has been armed-- what happens? Will the bomb still detonate after its been shot down? I imagine it will be- so the issue would be to find a place to shoot them down-- desert/ocean, etc.
Re: Drones, shooting down, Southern California is slowly turning into a radiation fall out zone. They already have a section of death valley that is a hot zone from Season Two, now Valencia and soon another part of the dessert. Not a good stretch for the lizards.
Lennox, I cannot even watch the Whitehouse anymore, by the way, who cares that Karen Hayes is headed back to the bunker, is the idea that she and Lennox now team up to stop the VEEP? Boring.
Crazy Martha, Erika enjoyed that she was with Aaron, me, I do not care, plus if he has been put through two years of Martha on the brink of crazy street, god bless him, she was even bitter about Logan keeping the ranch. I would have figured the ex-first lady would have better digs then a townhouse in the Valley.
More of a bungalow, right-- as Peirce asnwered the phone-- but I digress.
Question- and I can't take credit for this question someone else raised it to which I have absolutley no answer-- why would the terrorists take a sneaky device like a suitcase nuke-- can't detect it-- and put it on a drone where it can get shot down? If its smuggled on a train or left on a bus- isn't that the idea? Granted dropping it from the sky would result in more fatalities- but it completely loses the element of surprise and terror. Just my 2 cents.
I loved the whole country club institution thing. When Logan was walking from the helicopter to Martha's bungalow, the background had some "crazies" playing tennis. I guess if your wacko, a nuclear explosion is not enough to keep you from saying, "hey let's play some tennis."
Tim-- that is freakin hysterical-- I didn't even think of that-- nuclear bomb goes off a few miles miles north-- hey- how about a game-- that is freakin funny stuff man. good call. And apparently it was a wicked good game as nobody noticed the chopper landing courtside.
I missed the tennis, I agree, weird, but on 9-11 I went home, watched for four hours and then just had to get outside so we went to the Boardwalk to walk and did see people running, biking, swimming etc. So while we were not out scared of fallout, people determine the risk and then try to find something to escape, physical activity is a good way to not think about something awful.
Fair enough Ted-- but somehow I don't think the writers thought it through that much-- I think they tried to set the scene of an active retirement community.
I think we can all agree... drone=stupid. Unless, of course, they have set the bombs to go off at certain locations at the San Andreas fault line...
"Otisburg????"
