What new plotline-- the drone? What does that do anyway?
In all honesty- I have 1 word for last night's entire episode-- Filler.
I thought it was slow, drawn out and just not that good.
I thought the best part of the show was Morris pouring out his whiskey bottle after Chloe walked in on him taking a dump.
I guess I should feel differently after the bomb goes off at the end attempting to kill the President- but frankly I'm so tired of that plot that it just wasn't that compelling.
The new plotline will be the way the government scrambles together whe the president is incapacitated after the bomb. I anticipate that the VP will take over, make things really bad, then, as if sent from Heaven, the President will awaken from his coma to save the day.
One question... why is Lennox still alive? They can not set him free because he knows who they are and wha they did. He will have to die. So... why on Earth is he duct-taped to a pipe? If he were killed, it could just be blamed on the terrorists who attacked the President. This is dumb.
Agree about Lennox-- I can't believe they kept him alive-- he knows the whole thing-- he has to die. He will talk and has the potential to expose the whole thing.
All in all- I thought last night was a very sub-par episode. Honestly- one of the worst in the history of the show.
I think things are going to ramp up agains now that Logan is back in the mix. Redemption or no redemption... Jack came into contact with Logan by virtue of the phone left for him by Pap Bauer. The plot says Logan can not be trusted. However, who talks to themself in the mirror in such a fashion if they are not sincere?
Is Logan a psychopath? Nothing would even remotely suggest that he is. I suspect that we are going to be led to believe that Logan is deceptive, but, in the end, Logan is going to be just a pawn...used by virtue of his desire to redeem himself.
My guess, Reed is gay and is in love with him. I do not think it is reciprocal, just an explanation.
The bomb has a range of ten feet, what does that mean? Plus, I am no expert but isn't a bombs effectiveness directly related to the abilityt o launch destructive shrapenel? How much force can a tape recorder bomb reasonably generate? It might be legit, but it seemed off.
First time I have liked D.B. Woodside was when he threatened the ambassodor. I have a carrier group 20 miles off your coast, I have Generals seeking a military reaction to this attack, I can't hold them off much longer. I like gunboat diplomacy.

Nice house arrest, use of the stables, full grounds etc. The longing look at his wife, I think that means she is not making a surprise visit.
THe conversation with the president, "I once reached out to your brother for help in a crisis, I am offering you the same help, just over the top, Erika and I both said, and you killed him before the President.
The drone, makes no sense, what target would require you to need a drone to attack with a nuke? You can't launch it and expect the USAF to not intercept any unknown targets. Plus, I would just guess there are only 10-15 of those drones in the USAF, they do not notice one missing? THis is pretty expensive technology to just put in the Split City Mini Storage unit with the 1931 Packard and the rest of Benjamin Raspail.
Plus is this to deliver all of the nukes at one target? Do they have five drones? I am confused.
Re: VPOTUS, I agree with John, he makes things worse, then the president wakes up and saves the day.
In comparison to the previous two I liked it, at least we are moving forward. I liked the absurdity of the Lennox thing, I liked the interaction between logan and Jack, Logan and the president, I liked that Nadia is back in the CTU mix, disagreeing with Buchanan, I think they are back on track.

Every CTU chopper carries a complete change of clothes for all occasions for Jack Bauer, they took his measurements as soon as he got off the plane from China and had a team of tailors working non-stop for the last 6 hours. Why do I have to explain everything to you guys.

Exactly. Makes no sense. All of a sudden they are not martyrs? Or did all of the suicide guys die in Valencia? The drone is plan B? Stupid.
Agreed. Moreover, the drone does not make time sense in terms of the timing. It is not as if they were able to get the drone in the couple of ours in between the first nuke going off (and possibly killing all of their martyrs) and this episode. They would had to have planned the drone for quite some time.
I am actually at a loss right now. I hope Assaad really wants to kill the President which would just be great. I now want the VP to take over.

I guess drone counts as airplane, I take no credit for the prediction since it looks like a shotgun psychic approach, but that is how I imagine writer meetings go on 24.
Palmer lives, but is incapacitated enough that the VP takes over and starts instituting all the policies that Palmer was resisting.
Lennox escapes and takes his time in assessing his place in the NWO.
Jack goes with Logan to the embassy. Jack wil learn of the drone plot and that, as if you didn't know this already, they are set to go off in a couple of hours. Something will go wrong and Jack will be in a pickle.
