Now that is more like it...
Good episode of 24. Good action. Good suspense. Jack kicking some ass and, at the end, the bad guy hanging by his neck from an industrial chain. While I half expected him to come back to life like Karl from Die Hard and kill silverspoon, I was glad that did not happen.
However, while I know realism had to be sacrificed for drama, how is it that Cheng knows that Jack in available? I mean, if he called ten minutes earlier, he would have ghosted Jack when he was trying to approach the warehouse. If he would have called fifteen minutes earlier, he would have heard nothing but "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" considering Jack was right under a garbage truck's drive train. Either of these scenarios would have been completely detrimental to Cheng's plan as it can be logically inferred that Cheng needs Jack for something or he would not be holding Audrey.
Just sayin'

Still not happy, this season has betrayed my trust. I was even bored with Jack kicking ass. I know they have opened a new window and I will watch it to the end, but 24 has now slipped to CSI level of entertainment, not awful but not compelling.
The Sheild is back, Soprannos is back, and the Mets are playing and the Rangers are in the playoffs, 24 might be moved to Saturday morning tivo at this rate.
My only problem with 24 this season is that they seem to need to have a "larger plot" when, at its core, if they just gave me a simple plot with characters I cared about, it would do alot more.
However, I think that is the problem with this season, I do not really care about anyone but Jack.
I too was bored with it. In fact was planning our Disney trip and playing with my new phone. With that being said it is about time we got some more action. I hope it continues. Jack now has the whole love interest dilema which in past seasons brought good tv. Gotta say though Shield is back and Sopranos was classic Sopranos at its best. Will not give up on 24 though I still love Jack.
I saw the Sopranos, and, found it a little lacking.
The only tension was when Tony and the other guy went on the trip and the other dude thought he was dead. The wives both knew this was a strong possibility, but, nothing they said or did reflected this tension. The dialogue just did not ring true.
I liked how Silverspoon looks around, sees all the dead guys and goes Damn Jack! You could just tell that he wanted to drop to his knees and bow before Jack and say "teach me!"
Hey-
Looks like I'm not the only one who has had mixed feelings about this year-- at least we are all consistent.
Two weeks ago's episode is not worth talking about-- conflict between Pres. and VP made for flat out boring TV. Never thought I would use boring and 24 in the same sentence- but it was.
Last night's was much better. Now- it was a very quick end to the "day long" problem with the suitcase nukes. It was an abrupt end to a story that started great and lost its legs midway through.
Jen totally predicted that the "rescue" of Fayed was a ruse. She called it before it happened. I thought it was a real rescue-- but what do I know.
I thought the fight between Fayed and Jack was very cool-- it was filmed kind of differently-- slo-mo but not slo-mo-- I can't describe it-- and I thought the music that played throughout the entire warehouse scene was very eerie and good.
And Tim- you're right-- Silversppon looked around and was in awe of Jack's "work".
Lot of great lines from this past episode--
Silverspoon to Jack, "Damn Jack."
Jack to Fayed- "Now we're going to have some fun."
Jack to Fayed "Time to go see your brother."-- or something like that.
So, now where do we go? I guess as they say "now its personal." Was it a surprise to any of you that Audrey is alive? Not even for a second. But what is up with the Chinese? They just don't go away. And how did he even know that Jack was still alive?
So when we have the immediate conflict of Jack trying to use CTU resources to save Audrey who is going to help Jack? Pres. Wayne Palmer-- he'll try. Logan? Maybe-- my rule is if you're not dead on TV- then you're still alive- so I bet he is alive- and he might be able to work with the Chinese. 3. How about Jack's Dad? We haven't heard from him since he left the cell phone for Jack on the roof. He should come back.
I didn't think the writers would chop off another arm-- recall when Jack chopped Chase's arm off to stop the virus a few seasons ago. Now Gredenko.
Finally- Fayed was a weak villian-- certainly no Marwan- and definitely not Robocop from last season. He turned out to be very lame.
"And how did he even know that Jack was still alive?"
very good point. They had better explain that because, according to the back story, Audrey has ben in Chinese hands for a couple of months, there is no way that they could have anticipated the events of this day and held on to her for a "bargaining chip" of some sorts.
Right-- 16-17 hours ago when the "day" first started the Chinese handed Jack over to CTU in exchange to stop the terror attacks on US soil. Just to show you how disconnected this entire season as been- I can't even really begin to tell you what happened next. I have absolutely no idea what the Chinese received in exhcnage for Jack-- and one would wonder why the security director would have this vandetta IF he/China received what was bargained for with the exchange. The dots do not necessarily connect.
When the Chinese turned Jack over they believed he was going to be killed. Now, 17 hours later- they grab Audrey? Is there a link between the Chinese and the terrorists? One would think that the very minute that CTU takes possession of the bombs and then the Chinese security director makes a call through CTU to Jack that the Chinese have been involved all along. But what is their motivation? Clearly they don't want to start WWIII over an act that took place on their consulate soil from 2 seasons ago. So, do they want the nukes? No, they have nukes already. It will be interesting, but I'm struggling to find the endgame here with the Chinese.
